Exciting young pianist Anna Klein is gaining recognition as an engaging and sensitive, yet powerful soloist. She has established a reputation as an artist who connects with the audience. With varied and appealing programs, Anna is equally well received by music enthusiasts and professionals, young and old alike.

Following her New York solo debut in 2002 at Weill Carnegie Recital Hall, Anna has toured extensively as solo recitalist throughout the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. In addition, she has given performances in South America, Fiji and the Marshall Islands. Anna made her orchestral debut with the Webster University Symphony, performing concerti by Haydn and Beethoven.

Anna has appeared for United States Embassies on behalf of the State Department as a freelance performing artist to promote cultural and mutual understanding through the arts. As such, she has performed for ambassadors, diplomats, dignitaries, military personnel, and international audiences.

Anna’s quick wit and vivacious personality make her an entertaining and welcome guest for television and radio appearances. She has been interviewed by classical, talk, and community format radio stations, and was featured on a New Jersey cable syndicated television program. Recently, her solo performance in Majuro at the Parliament House was broadcast live throughout the Marshall Islands.

A devoted chamber musician, Anna has performed as collaborative pianist with groups at Bargemusic in Brooklyn, Indiana University in Bloomington, the University of Texas at Austin, and has given concerts in the greater metropolitan areas of Detroit, St. Louis, and Cincinnati.

Dedicated to educational outreach, Anna continues to perform, and present master classes at conservatories, universities, elementary, and high schools. Her constructive insights encourage and inspire piano students and teachers. Anna has donated performances and time in support of the Andrew George DeGrado Foundation, the Sassa Maniotis Scholarship at Manhattan School of Music and La Clinica Latino Health Centers.

A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Anna began piano studies at the age of four when she requested lessons and pierced ears for her birthday. (She got both!) As a teenager, she was a semi-finalist in the Stravinsky International Piano Competition and was the recipient of the Hesse Memorial Scholarship. Anna received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in piano performance. As a student of Andrew DeGrado, Anna was a finalist in the Kankakee Concerto Competition, the St. Louis Artist Presentation Society Awards, and was selected to compete in the World Piano Competition. She participated and performed at the Van Cliburn Summer Institute and the Aspen Music Festival. Anna graduated with a Master of Music degree in piano performance from Manhattan School of Music, where she studied with Jeffrey Cohen.

Currently, Anna resides in St. Louis.
